Good question Matt! Our goal is to achieve this for all segments but yes, the gaming/desk chairs are the first step to reach a larger audience. You might have also seen a very recent announcement (today!) about the new D-BOX Vibe chair. As for sim racing specifically, we are working with partners on a product expansion so stay tuned for some good news in the next couple of months.
Ask me anything
Thanks Jean! We are working hard on a few projects, stay tuned!
Thanks Brandon!
Hi @steve
Great question! The simple answer is that D-BOX doesnât sell directly to consumersâwe sell to seating partners. As a result, having product at Costco, Best Buy or any store has to be in their sales & marketing strategy as opposed to ours! However, we do think itâs a great idea to introduce more people to the added value of a D-BOX seat!
Hello @Mac! Sorry for the delay in answering this for you.
A little bit of backstory: The story of D-BOX goes back to 1998. A group of avid audio buffs with a high-quality speaker manufacturing business saw an opportunity to enhance the movie-watching experience. But, a question stood in their way: how?
The answer vibrated deep from within: use the power of the precision of sound to envelop the body in a unique and completely engrossing way!
From there, one of the first products developed was a box-shaped speaker.
So, to directly answer your question about the âDâ in D-BOX, we surveyed the employees who have been with the company the longest. They say that since the company began with a box-shaped speaker, the name eventually just evolved into D-BOX! So, the âDâ doesnât stand for anything in particular.
Thanks! A better availibility here for Germany would be graet!
Hi Olaf, The plan is that Razer would release the chair next fall.
Hereâs a suggestion. Can live events receive motion codes in âreal timeâ? If so, it would be great to watch the Olympics in all itâs glory and movement!
How many actuators will be available for the Vibe chair? When will that chair be ready to sell? Any idea of cost? Dimentions? Will it include a Haptic Hub? What options will be available to consumers (colors, materials, number of actuators, ability to swivel or recline, etc.)? It looks like a foot rest ottoman is going to be available. Will there be additional haptic motion built within that as well?
Hi Brian, all great questions! Weâll be releasing a lot more details about the D-BOX VIBE chair soon.
In the meantime, I can say that thereâs one actuator in the seat (none in the optional ottoman) and that there is no HaptiSync Hub-- the controller will be integrated directly into the seat!
The VIBE doesnât recline, but it does swivel. There will be both leather and fabric options.
To make sure you donât miss any new details, make sure youâre subscribed to our newsletter and come back here often!
Thank you for the introduction and congrats Caroline. Thanks for joining the conversation as well. I am always excited to see new products introduced by D-Box. I would say that more visibility to all products, specs, and MSRP would be nice. These have always been scarce and even more so in recent years.
Thanks Emmanuelle!
I like that the âDâ retains its mystique!
Iâm glad that team in 1998 had the idea to innovate and create something we are enjoying today. I would say, âMission Accomplished!â.
Are we going to be seeing any new features added to chairs supported by the Hapti-Sync Hub in the future? Specifically gaming integration or Bass sync for movies without a D-Box trak?
Hello Tim, we are indeed working on adding new features to all our HaptiSync products, including the Vibe chair and the upcoming CoolerMaster gaming chair. As soon as we can confirm the launch date of these features, we will make sure this community gets the scoop!
I read in this thread that maintenance of D-box / Jamar seats is not needed. Maybe a weird question, but can you explain why this is not needed? You would expect that greecing or oiling the actuators should be done once in the 5 years or so? Maybe itâs a noob question, but ok.
Second question: is there a âD-BOX in this theaterâ plate available for customers? Like Dolby does make them?
Hey Marc!
For your first question, our system are built using a nut ball-screw system meaning they are pretty much indestructible (well almost ) and require no maintenance to keep them going, even in industrial settings where they run 24/7 for hundreds of hours at a time.
For you second questions, there is nothing of the sort available yet however we are aware of the demand for this sort of plate.
Thanks for your questions!
Caroline, glad to have you on the D-BOX team. With this forum D-BOX has already upped their game as far as responsiveness, giving info and more, as it seemed until not that long ago as if any information I was trying to get from the D-BOX website would always end in dead links or no response to e-mails. Itâs still darn hard to find resellers in Europe and when you find them and ask for info on types of chairs, configurations, prices or anything for that matter, the answer is always vague, something like: âWe offer many possible configurations, prices start at âŹxxxxâ and thatâs all you get. There is never a brochure, a price list, anything, which doesnât work well for brand awareness, product marketing, etc. Sometimes I thought: DO these people even want to sell anything? Please turn the tide, give the resellers something to work with, make products more readily availble. Your product is already a niche product, but when people just donât know what bang they get for what buck, they will stay in the dark. If people are more aware of the product range and prices, more people will buy your products and maybe you can even drop prices. I think itâs more common in the US and Canada to have dedicated home theatres and professional home theatre installers, but here in the Netherlands (or anywhere else in Europe), those installers seem scarce.
Keep up the work youâre doing!
Patrick
Thanks Catherine, looking at the Indiegogo for the Vibe, https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/d-box-vibe-chair-the-home-entertainment-seat#/, I see a lot of new features. Any ETA on when they will be coming to the current Haptisync devices/chairs?
Tim
What can be told about the status of console compatibility / coded support?
Congratulations to Louis Codere Dussault as the employee of the month!
